Welcome to a world of alternative homewares, delightful walls and charmingly cheeky creations with a distinctly vintage feel. We are very pleased to introduce you to Dupenny, the latest addition to our roster of designers.
Dupenny is based by the sea in Brighton, in Great Britain. It was founded two years ago by Emily Dupen-Hopkins and instantly created a sensation with handmade wallpaper featuring illustrations of call girls, burlesque beauties, insects and range of quirky and kitschy designs. Emily has since branched out to create a range of luxurious throw cushions -- saucy mademoiselles printed in black and white on the finest dupion silk, backed with a decadent dark red silk fabric and edged with black silk piping make up the "Burlesque" series. The "50s Housewives" series of cushions and tea-towels illustrate lovely ladies engaged in typical household tasks -- baking, hanging out the laundry, vacuuming -- Dupenny's mischevious prints demonstrate a cheeky side to these demure ladies with a peek at the garters, seamed stockings and frilly panties under the prim and proper exteriors.
"We spend our days thinking up curious themes, doodling pretty pictures, getting more ink on ourselves than on the paper, and above all loving what we do. We like retro themes, making people smile, and the simple impact of black and white. Every Dupenny product is carefully made by hand from start to finish. Designs are initially hand drawn before being finalised on a computer. We choose to hand screen-print our products because not only is it very messy, but it ensures that no two items are identical." -- Dupenny
