Galerie CO was at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February checking out the work of designers from all over Scandanavia. We were scouting out new, modern, sustainable lines to add to our growing stable of creative designers! The show was huge. So we are still sifting through piles of information, to see how we might get some of the pieces we saw to Montreal.
There was no "green" section to speak of at the show. Rather, among the designers showing their pieces, sustainability is more or less the norm -- the wood is certified, the cardboard is recycled and the glues and resins are water-based and non-toxic. On the product side, we loved virtually all the lighting (yes, at CO we love lighting!). We saw some inspired shelving and storage units -- collapsible, sleek and easy to transport. In the less-easy-to-transport category were some fun, cylindrical cardboard modular storage units. Completely original.
The overall look is clean and muted. But it's not cold. There is something about the northern light that gives contemporary Scandinavian design a warm lustre. Watch this speace. We will keep you posted as new pieces arrive!
