Born in 1971, Yaron Elyasi is an industrial designer from Israel. He studied at Middlesex University in the United Kingdom and then at the Shenkar/Vital Centre for Engineering and Design in Israel, where he now teaches Industrial Design. Elyasi has won several prizes for his work, which focuses on practical art design made from recycled plastic, giving his pieces a natural, organic character. Elyasi creates his dynamic and intriguing art for the home by recyclying plastic from bottle caps, bottles and industrial and domestic waste. After melting his materials, he dribbles soft plastic strings onto a mold in a free-form manner, creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Fluid lines embrace functional form and vivid colour. Multi-purpose colourful stools inspired by the clean lines of a Darbouka drum double as sturdy side tables, eclectic lighting creates a unique mood, and decorative fruit bowls provide stylish storage. All Elyasi's pieces are hand-made in Israel.

On 26 June 2008 we got the terrible news that Elyasi's studio had burned down. However, in the meantime, he has become a proud father and has enjoyed spending time with his newborn son. He has also been rebuilding his studio and we look forward to carrying his latest designs in the near future.
